This article presents the results of a study on foliar application of lignohumate (five-fold) to mandarin orange plants. The study was conducted on scrub mandarin orange trees of the Kovano-Vase variety (rootstock is Poncirus trifoliata) in the field and laboratory conditions. The experiment was laid in open ground at an altitude of 50-70 m above sea level. The biochemical analysis was performed on mandarin orange fruits. The study was conducted in 2023-2024 in the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry of the Subtropical Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Sochi). The objective of the study was to investigate the impact and effectiveness of foliar application of a 1% lignohumate solution on reducing stress during temperature fluctuations, increasing drought resistance, and increasing yield and product quality.
Lignohumate contains humic and fulvic acids, as well as macro- and microelements in an organically bound form. Mandarin oranges contain a large amount of vitamins (A, B1, B3, B5, B6, B9, and C), antioxidants, macro- and microelements, sugars, organic acids, and many useful substances. Low content of dry matter in fruit 11.59-12.15% was noted. A low sugar-acid index was obtained: 5.58 (control) and 7.93 relative units (lignohumate). Sugar content with lignohumate was 1.1-1.2 times higher, and acidity was 1.4 times lower, compared to the control. A low sugar-acid ratio was obtained: 5.58 (control) and 7.93 relative units (lignohumate). A relatively high accumulation of vitamin C was observed over two years in the control (41.48) and with the lignohumate addition (43.31 mg/100 g).
