Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the three-year work of the results of the selection of female and male rabbits of the white giant breed from litters with different levels of productivity of their parents on two grounds (fertility and the number of reared rabbits for jigging): females with high (B), medium (C), low (H) and males from litters with a high level of fertility and the number of reared rabbits to jigging parents (B), namely (BxB, CxB, HxB). According to the results of the research, when selecting pairs of parents according to two characteristics of productivity, it is advisable to use males with high productivity rates on females with medium and low fertility rates and the number of rabbits reared to jigging their parents. Males act as improvers, as evidenced by statistically significant data on the strength of the influence of males on fertility and the number of rabbits grown for jigging, females and daughters covered with them, and the ability to transfer their qualities to descendants, since already in the first generation it is possible to obtain more productive animals of the desired type and themes thereby increase the profitability of the industry as a whole.
