Abstract

Combining ability (GCA, SCA), were determined in testing crosses. As testers have used CMS-lines of grain sorghum that pollinate with pollen genotypes of sweet sorghum. In the scheme of the experiment included testing hybrids (36), cultivars of sweet sorghum (12), СSM-line (3). It was a three crop rotation sequence. The variance analysis identified the excess standard deviations of the SCA in comparison with GCA on the content of fat and ash in biomass; fat, fiber and ash in the grain. In the discussion of the results of the statistical processing considered the use of sweet sorghum genotypes in breeding program to improve the biochemical composition of the biomass and grain varieties-populations and hybrids. The sugar sorghum varieties suitable for the sugar content increasing in the caulis sap selection were diagnosed during the obtaining of synthetic populations-varieties (L-11, L-87), as well as hybrids (L-5, L-11, L-28, k-581). Some varieties can not be used for inclusion in the breeding program (k-599, Flagman, Zernogradskoe 73) and it is rational to exclude them from the hybridization plan for the high sugar value in the sap.
