Abstract

Due to the success of the breeding area of alfalfa cultivation for forage has expanded considerably to the North up to Karelia and the Arkhangelskregion. In new areas of cultivation due to the lack of heat alfalfa seeds do not ripen. In traditional regions of cultivation are produced annually from 11.19 to 50.55 % of the seed requirements, which is more than 16 thousand tons. For commercial production of seed in sufficient quantity is necessary to organize agroecological zoning of long alfalfa seed production on Federal and regional levels.
