Abstract

Data on genetic origin of 8 apple varieties developed at VNIISPK by rehybridization for the last 23 years are given. When analyzing the VNIISPK hybrid apple collection, 25 selected seedlings that can be used as donors or sources of one or several economically valuable traits have been allocated. 18 selected seedlings have been allocated as donors of scab immunity (Vf); 7 selected seedlings as donors of columnar tree habit; 4 selected seedlings as sources of large size and high marketability of fruit; 2 selected seedlings as sources of high taste qualities of fruit; 4 selected seedlings as sources of the attractive fruit appearance and 5 selected seedlings as sources of the durable shelf life. These apple seedlings can be used in the re-hybridization with the aim of improving the apple assortment.
