Abstract

Under the circumstances, the breeding of dairy breeds of cattle in the Russian Federation by the world practice the gradual transition to monobreedity, which carries the dangerous trend of loss of genetic diversity. The preservation and further successful breeding of dairy cattle of indigenous breeds is due to a strategic food security of the country. Cows of Brown Swiss and breed of Sychevska breeds traditionally bred in the territory of the Smolensk region went from native to improved. The improvement of dairy qualities was conducted using the best imported bulls, related breeds: brown Swiss American selection and Holstein red-and-white color. This stage of selection was completed by the establishment in both breeds of dairy types of Smolensky and Vazuzsky. Animals are data types inherited from local populations of strong constitution, long duration of productive life, excellent reproductive qualities and were able to take from improving breeds in their genotype at a great dairy-sign. Our studies once again prove feasible, the possibility of breeding cows of Brown Swiss and breed of Sychevska not only in the Smolensk region, but also in other territories of the Russian Federation.
